A Stroke is a medical emergency, it occurs when the blood supply to the part of the brain is interrupted or reduced, preventing brain tissue from getting oxygen and nutrients. Brain cells begin to die in minutes. Sudden death of some brain cells due to lack of oxygen when blood flow to the brain is lost by blockage of an artery to the brain. Early action can reduce brain damage and complications. Trouble walking, dizziness, loss of coordination, difficulty in understanding, numbness of face, arm, leg, blurred vision etc. are signs and symptoms.

In Ayurveda Stroke is explained as Pakshaghat disease. Pakshaghat is explained under Vatvyadhi. Due to similar signs and symptoms it’s correlated with Stroke.
