Patient Profile

  • Name: Pallavi (Fictional Name)
  • Age/Sex: 12/F
  • Address: Hyderabad, India
  • UID: 8627
  • DOA: 16/02/2024

Pallavi, a twelve-year-old girl from Hyderabad, India, loves to play outdoors. But all of sudden, in August 2023, a painful Sun Allergy and Polymorphous Light Eruption (PMLE) entered her life and changed her joyful daily routine. The sunny walks on her way to school or playing in the park became unbearable with this disposition to simple outdoor activities. It was most severe on her hands and neck, causing her to shy away from favourite activities and lose confidence.

The family, desperate for relief, tried various homoeopathic treatments, which provided some temporary relief but did not entirely alleviate her symptoms. Moreover, she had suffered from a viral fever very recently and was having early childhood-throat pain. Her parents were very concerned about their daughter’s deteriorating condition, so they were seeking an ayurvedic solution for her that would treat her condition by addressing the root cause and give her a life free from allergies.

IAFA Ayurveda® – A Ray of Hope for Sun Allergy Successful Treatment

So, in the search of hope, in the month of February 2023, they found IAFA Ayurveda® and booked an online consultation without a second thought and explained in detail about their daughter’s condition and how it is triggering her day-to-day activities. Dr. Sahil Gupta was very patient throughout the conversation and explained to them the root cause of the condition and gave them a belief that she could recover from this.

Final Diagnosis

Based on her symptoms and health history, Pallavi was diagnosed with TVAK VIKARA (A Skin condition in Ayurveda) due to Pitta Imbalance, which is often exacerbated by Sun Exposure.

The Path to Recovery: Treatment Plan

Dr. Sahil Gupta has carefully customised her treatment plan that covers the treatment of symptoms and root cause behind the disorder. The treatment plan was twofold including both External Ayurvedic Medicines to heal the rashes due to the sun exposure and Internal Ayurvedic Medicines to calm the vitiated pitta dosha and cleanse the body in a natural way.

External Ayurvedic Medicines:-

1. IAFA 333 Oil

Pallavi was given IAFA 333 Oil, a herbal medication well known for its anti-inflammatory and soothing nature. She applied the oil 3-5 ml twice a day on the dry and affected portion of her skin. The cooling nature of the oil helped a lot in bringing burning sensations down with an immediate subsided effect, thus reducing the rashes by itself.

2. Lacto Calamine Lotion with Aloe Vera

Lacto Calamine Lotion with Aloe Vera to be applied before exposure to sun rays as an added care and protection against UV harmful rays; IAFA Ayurveda® experts’ advice.

Internal Ayurvedic Medicines:-

The following regimen was prescribed to support her body from the inside with the help of IAFA Swaras Chikitsa, as a part of Sun Allergy successful treatment, which included Bhoomi Amla Swaras and Durva Swaras.

3. Bhoomi Amla Swaras:

15 ml with an equal amount of water, twice a day before meals. Bhoomi Amla is known for its liver-cleansing properties, which can help in detoxifying the body.

4. Durva Swaras:

20 ml with an equal amount of water, twice a day before meals. Durva is beneficial for its cooling and soothing properties, which help in balancing Pitta and alleviating skin inflammation.

5. Skin Detox Tablet:

1 tablet twice a day after meals. This herbal formulation was used to detoxify the blood and improve skin health.

Holistic Lifestyle and Dietary Guidance

Health Experts at IAFA Ayurveda® not only gave the prescriptions but went on to encourage and support Pallavi and her family with this valuable advice for lifestyle and diet management as a complete part of Sun Allergy successful treatment, which does not merely avoided her flare-ups but improved her quality of life to prevent future allergies.

Do’s (Pathya):

  • Wear clothes that cover one from the sun.
  • Take light and easy meals to digest and gradually increase the consumption of high fibre fruits and vegetables.
  • Drink lukewarm water frequently in small quantities.
  • Green vegetables and fresh juices, mainly pomegranate, mango, kiwi, and apple.
  • Fennel, cumin, and curry leaves are especially useful herbs and can be taken regularly to promote digestion and detoxification.

Don’ts (Apathya):

  • Avoid fatty, fried, and spicy foods, sour items, and high-lactic acid dairy products.
  • Also, avoid the intake of packaged food with additives, yeast-fermented foods, and seafood.
  • Intake of vegetables like ladyfinger, capsicum, eggplant and spinach should be taken in a limited amount as they irritate her skin condition.

Additionally, she has been asked to drink Cumin and Fennel water regularly as a part of her sun allergy ayurvedic treatment to improve Agni (the digestive fire) and boost up the immunity.

Follow-Up

Pallavi was advised to continue her medication for 3 months for root cause treatment and month on month follow up was done by the team IAFA® to track her symptoms and recovery.  After 3 months of treatment, she was put on tapering dose by reducing the dose to half for another 3 months to prevent any recurrence of the disease and after that medications were completely stopped.

Outcome

Significant results were shown from the first month itself of her sun allergy ayurvedic treatment, the rashes and burning sensation had subsided considerably. She could engage in all her outdoor activities like bike riding, basketball and cycling and no rashes were seen on her body after 3 months. This could happen only with the ayurvedic treatment provided by Dr. Sahil Gupta at IAFA Ayurveda® and follow-up with modifications in her diet and lifestyle.

Parents’ Happiness!

Her parents felt much indebted to IAFA Ayurveda® for this kind of ‘holistic’ service, which not merely focused on the symptoms but the root cause of the disease that restored her health and gave her a happier and peaceful life.

Pallavi’s case of Sun Allergy and Polymorphous Light Eruption (PMLE) successful treatment is a proof of how Ayurveda can treat health problems from their root and provide a lasting relief.
